About this Blog

Welcome to "Hello.World".

I am a web developer living in Wellington, New Zealand with my wife Sonja.

I started this weblog in December 2005 at the request of other developers who wanted to keep in touch, and to hear my ramblings from a distance.

It is my hope that the content of this weblog is informative and helpful. My goal is to share my thoughts on the latest developments in the web community, with a focus on:

  • Web 2.0
  • RIA
  • Mobile Platforms
  • Online Software
  • LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
  • Latest Development Ideas

From time to time I may post some personal content – but that is certainly not the purpose of this blog.

Out of interest for those who are not programmers – the phrase "Hello World" is typically used in the first bit of code a programmer ever writes. Most programming languages have tutorials that demonstrate how to output "Hello World" as a phrase to the screen or browser (see here). And yes, the "dot" in the middle of Hello.World is deliberate and bears a resemblence to the syntax used in many Object-Oriented programming languages.

Anyway – I'll leave my ramblings for the content I post. I hope you enjoy this site, and I wish you all the best. If you have any feedback or suggestions for this site please let me know.

Sincerely,

Matthew Delmarter

Oh yea … and I enjoy a wee dram on occasion :-)
